BIOLOGY 3101 Evolution (fall only, 3 credits): a comprehensive undergraduate course where students acquire a strong foundation in evolutionary biology, including its historical development and basic concepts such as the origin of life, natural selection, adaptation, population genetics, speciation, phylogeny, coevolution, taxonomy, and biogeography. Students who successfully complete the course will also have a broad understanding of the planetary environment, the fossil and molecular records of life, conservation of biodiversity, and astrobiology.

BIOLOGY 8210 Biodiversity Seminar (fall only, 1 credit): this graduate seminar will explore the key concepts in biodiversity under debate through a critical evaluation of the recent scientific literature.
